This phase can last a few weeks up to 12 months, with collagen production continuing throughout, working toward re-establishing durability and elasticity in the skin. Supporting the remodeling phase requires a strategic shift from immediate, protective healing of the disrupted skin to active support of collagen maturation.
Careful attention must be paid to skin’s post-treatment recovery care from both a safety (preventing infection) and efficacy (producing desired aesthetic outcomes), and generally includes strategies to optimize moisture balance, and protect the redeveloping skin barrier.
