Up Close With Leyla Blue
March 21, 2021
Raised in the generation of Britney Spears, Leyla Blue now 21, sees pop music as an underutilized vehicle to communicate a distinct perspective. At the tender young age of 12, Leyla decided that she wanted to devote her time to becoming a recording artist. Blue is the daughter of two successful photographers and has two younger sisters. At 16, she started writing her own music, and eventually was accepted into the prestigious Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music - NYU.
Blue approached her studies with the same fervency she used to forge her initial entry into the music industry. Her lyrics are spoken from the heart and her music is entrancing. Having grown up with some mental health issues, she finds it empowering to open up about her struggles, and those of her generation, and use music as a vehicle for expression. This, in turn, resonates with thousands of young adults and teenagers worldwide and further explains her immense popularity.
A recent Island Records signee, Blue is preparing to release a new body of work ‘The Blue’. True to its name, and heralding as the artist’s most revealing yet, Leyla knows that earning the trust of an arena-size audience requires bold authenticity.
Collaborating often, as we do, with female photographers and artists, Nourish gives you a day in the life of Leyla, shot by her beautiful mother Anna Palma.
