Kat’s Kitchen: Antioxidant Pomegranate Cocktail

In this very special holiday edition of Kat’s Kitchen, we’re featuring one of my favorite festive beverages, made with a fruit packed full of antioxidants, alongside a little bubbly of course. This recipe couldn’t come together any easier, so without further adieu, let’s dive into it.

Ingredient Highlights:

pomegranate seeds

Pomegranate:The main star of this recipe, all of the functional benefits in this drink comes from this powerful festive fruit. While the seeds of the pomegranate make a fun and tasty garnish, they also contain a significant amount of gut-friendly fiber. The seeds are also the biggest source of Vitamin C within the fruit (read about the benefits of this major nutrienthere). In both the seeds and the juice, you’ll find plenty of other perks. They contain notable amounts of magnesium and potassium, which both regulate and support healthy muscle and nerve function. They also contain over one fourth of your daily value of folate per serving, the B vitamin that promotes healthy cell growth (major for skin health). Speaking of skin health, high levels of antioxidants and the anti-inflammatory compoundpunicalagin means you’ll get a boost of free radical fighting power and a soothed complexion. Finally, pomegranates support a balanced gut microbiome, aiding in digestion and promoting a healthier skin biome. Talk about an ingredient that does it all.

Notes from Kat:

Like I said, it couldn’t be easier. Our community is founded on a holistic approach to health, and this means everything can be enjoyed in moderation, including some holiday bubbly. Life is about balance, and combining a sparkling wine with a power-packed fruit seems like the perfect way to practice that this season.

Wishing you and your loved ones a happy, healthful holiday season and New Year. I’ll be toasting each and every one of you.

See you next time in the kitchen.
